Happy New Year from Belgium (2).

Dated: 28 December 1955.
This New Year card is filled with lucky symbols.
On either side of the text “Happy New Year” are four leaf clovers, which are known as lucky charms.
The pig will surely bring happiness, whether alive or as a piggy bank.
About the chimney sweep I’ve found some information.
As a Lucky symbol, depictions of chimney sweeps are a popular New Year’s gift in Germany; either as small ornaments attached to flower bouquets or candy, e.g. marzipan chimney sweeps. Their traditional uniform is an all black suit with golden jacket buttons and a black tophat.
Previously it was a disaster for the budget if the chimney was blocked or poorly drawn, because food could no longer be prepared, and it was cold in the house. In such a situation the chimney sweep brought the rescue. He cleaned the flue (chimney) and it was again possible for cooking and heating. So he brought the "luck" back. Today it should also bring luck to touch a chimney sweep (alternatively, the jacket).
