A church building is a regular item on my list of sights. Not just because a church is always easy to find (you can see a church from afar), but mainly because I think churches are beautiful and interesting buildings. Netherlands has a lot of churches and they are all different, each church has its own characteristics and peculiarities. Photographing is not always easy; often trees or buildings obstruct a clear view of the church.

The Catholic Saint Anthony Abbot Church in Loo dates from 1873-1875. It was built on the place where once stood a chapel from the 15th century. Until the 50s of the 20th century, this church in Loo has been a place of pilgrimage, where Our Lady of the Sacred Heart was honored.
From the side you can clearly see that this church has no tower, a peculiarity not usually seen. Behind the cemetery stands a Lady Chapel. Mary Processions are held in the months of May and October.

Een kerkgebouw is een vast punt op mijn lijstje van bezienswaardigheden. Niet alleen omdat een kerk altijd gemakkelijk te vinden is (een kerktoren zie je al van verre), maar vooral omdat ik kerkgebouwen mooi en interessant vind. Nederland heeft erg veel kerken en ze zijn allemaal verschillend, elke kerk heeft zijn eigen kenmerken en bijzonderheden. Het fotograferen is helaas niet altijd gemakkelijk, vaak belemmeren bomen of gebouwen een goed zicht op de kerk.

De katholieke Sint-Antonius Abtkerk in Loo dateert uit 1873-1875. Hij is gebouwd op de plaats waar eerder een kapel stond uit de 15^de eeuw. Tot in de jaren ’50 van de 20^ste eeuw was deze kerk in Loo een bedevaartsoord, waarbij Onze Lieve Vrouwe van het Heilig Hart werd vereerd.
Vanaf de zijkant kan je goed zien dat deze kerk helemaal geen toren heeft, een bijzonderheid die niet vaak voorkomt. Achterin het kerkhof staat een Mariakapel, in de maanden mei en oktober worden daar Mariaprocessies gehouden.
